Clarity, Grace and Power moves through the early Romantic symphonic world with energy and purpose.

Felix Mendelssohn opens the evening with the vivid seascape Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, a work of luminous orchestral clarity to set the evening in motion.

Franz Schubert follows with his Fifth Symphony, a score of classical poise and effortless grace, inspired by Mozartian balance and lyricism.

After the interval, the programme culminates in Louise Farrenc’s powerful Third Symphony, a work of striking rhythmic drive and structural authority that stands among the most compelling symphonic statements of its time.
